How to get there:
When you arrive to Bled (from the direction of motorway 'Ljubljana – Jesenice'), turn right towards Pokljuka at the traffic light. Follow the main road and in Spodnje Gorje village turn right towards Vintgar. Park on the parking lot in front of a hut where admission fee is charged.

Description:
The completely impassable gorge was discovered at the end of 19th century. Considering the tourist development of Bled, wooden galleries were soon made through the gorge enabling the tourists to visit this creation of nature. In a beautiful natural environment river Radovna jumps across rapids and whirls in pools; towards the end of the gorge you will be surprised by a 13 meter šum waterfall and an old stone railway bridge that crosses the gorge.

It is a very refreshing walk, especially if you manage to avoid larger groups of tourists. You can take a look at the gorge itself in an hour (by coming back the same way), but if you wish to stretch your legs a bit more, I recommend a pleasant circular path around the Hom hill, past St. Catherine church and back to the starting point.

An interesting detail: Based on some information, the name 'Vintgar' supposedly originates from the German word 'Weingarten' (wine garden), because there used to be vineyards nearby! Vintgar Gorge Bled has also given the name to many other gorges all over Slovenia.
