Alpine skiing

Cerkno

At the intersection of Gorenjska and Primorska, between two highest peaks of our subalpine mountain region, Porezen and Blegoš, lies the ski resort Cerkno. Its wide slopes are splendid for first ski turns, but also the more advanced skiers will gladly press on the ski edges and polish their carving technique. Cerkno has essentially everything: grounds for the youngest, a snow park, well-maintained artificial snowing system, lovely views all the way to Triglav, there is a short cross-country skiing track, excellent catering facilities and you can rent apartments right next to the ski slopes. A wonderful family ski resort!

How to get there:
Ski resort Cerkno is located in the west part of Škofjeloški hills, on the “pass” that connects Poljanska and Selška valley. We come to the ski resort from central Slovenia via two (time-equivalent) options:

  • Via Selška valley: Škofja Loka – Železniki – Davča (we turn left from the main road and follow the signs to the ski resort)
  • Via Poljanska valley: Škofja Loka – Gorenja vas – Hotavlje (we turn right from the main road and follow the signs to the ski resort)
The easiest way to come to the ski resort from west Slovenia is via Idrija and Cerkno. We can park at the parking lots next to the chairlift Počivalo (closer to Poljanska valley) or next to the chairlift Brdo (closer to Selška valley). There are cashier desks alongside both parking lots.

Ski resort description:
At the ski center Cerkno everyone does their best to pleasure their guests. Lift facilities are relatively new (2 six-seater chairlifts, 2 four-seater chairlifts, 2 older double chairlifts and 2 drag lifts), snow is guaranteed even in case the nature is not very generous and the slopes are excelently prepared. Terrains are mostly easy, however, also advanced skiers will not be bored and you will definitely 'feel your thighs' at the end of the day.

Center of the ski resort is on top of chairlifts Počivalo and Brdo (you can drive to here with a car as well – snowchains will not be redundant!), where a beautiful rustic hut with a large wooden terrace and cosy interior design was built, following the example of Austrian ski huts. They offer a wide range of meals and the atmosphere is very alpine. On the upper floor of the hut 6 apartments and a sauna are available – what could be nicer than a tranquil snow vacation right on the ski slopes? A hint: weddings are organized in the hut as well!

Right next to the hut is a ski kindergarden with playground equipment and a conveyor belt where you can also arrange payable daycare for your children. Perhaps a short cross-country skiing track situated on top of the ski resort is interesting for those who are staying in Cerkno for a few days. Besides this you can go for a hike or ski touring trip to the nearby mountains Blegoš or Porezen.

They offer:
- ski equipment rental
- ski school
- snow park
- children's playground
- accomodation and restaurants
